SAVE is an acronym for “Society for the Advancement of Education”, a US-based non-profit corporation registered in the state of Indiana. It has been founded by students and young professionals to serve the educational and economic needs of the poorest village and street children across the globe, one place at a time.

Open Letter from Mashal School Principal, Lahore Pakistan.

Dear Faraz and members/donors of SAVE
I am pleased to report that we held the annual exams in the last week of March 2010 and achieved a 100% success rate. As a result, we are presently offering the following classes with respective student strengths.

Class V 12 students
Class IV 17 students
Class III 30 students
Class II 60 students (30 in each section)
Class I60 students (30 in each section)
Class Prep60 students (30 in each section ) new admissions
Class Nursery66 students (33 in each section) new admissions

In order to cope with the increased number of students we have hired new teachers. Their profiles will appear on the website soon. Meanwhile we have distributed prizes to the top position holders and their mothers as well as lunch boxes and bags (free of cost) to the newly enrolled students. As usual we have given away new books and notebooks free of cost worth Rs 50,000 and uniforms worth more than Rs 40,000/. We were able to do this due to a donation of Rs 85,000 by our local donors.

Presently we are in urgent need of procuring an additional UPS and desert coolers for the summer session which we plan to run for all the three summer months. The landlord has very kindly added a new room to the building, which we needed for a full time maid. We are getting the much needed support from LUMS students and societies in the form of volunteer teachers, curriculum design, teacher training and sports activities. We were visited by Mr. and Mrs. Hammad (donors of SAVE) from the UK recently. They were very pleased with our set up and promised to do more for the financial support of the school.

We welcome and encourage all members and donors to visit the school if possible so that they can see what difference their donations are making in the lives of the children and families of Charar village.

SAVE's first project, Mashal School, has successfully completed its first year. Thanks for the wonderful support over the last 12 months in which we were able to collect US$ 21,383. For the new academic year we have projected our monetary budget at US $25,000. Please continue supporting SAVE!
